Carers WA is a not-for-profit community-based organisation and registered charity. It is dedicated to improving the lives of family carers living in Western Australia. It is the peak body recognised as the voice of family carers by the State and Federal Governments.

It provides a range of support services to carers, including one-on-one and telephone counselling, information, education and workshops for carers and service providers. Its role is to work in active partnership with carers, people with care and support needs, health professionals, service providers, government and the wider community to achieve an improved quality of life for carers.

This is a peak agency that advocates for the rights of people with developmental disabilities and their carers in Western Australia. It lobbies all levels of government on behalf of its members to ensure that the needs and views of people with developmental disabilities and their families are incorporated into policy, funding and planning. The Council also provides an information service and acts as a place to share information.

The primary focus of the Disability Services Commission is to make a positive difference to the lives of people with disabilities, their families and carers.

People 1st Program

The People 1st Program offers a range of services, including one-on-one and community group educational and counselling services. Educational services include information on sexuality, relationships and parenting. The service also offers relationship and couple education. People 1st Program encourages people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to access their services and also parents, service providers and others in the community.

Most services are currently available for people residing in metropolitan, outer-metro and regional areas including Albany, Bunbury, Narrogin and Katanning.

Sexuality Education Counselling and Consultancy Agency

Secca provides sexuality counselling and education to people with disabilities and their parents/carers. Counsellors are tertiary trained in Social Work, Counselling or Clinical Psychology and have experience in sexuality and disability issues.

It works predominantly in the metropolitan area but is able to offer some level of support to most country areas through telecommunications and negotiated group sessions.

It has a comprehensive library which is open to the public during working hours. It also conducts professional and community training on topics such as duty of care, disability and menstrual management. Secca is a non-profit organisation and it keeps the cost for services to a minimum.
