women’s health services
SCWHS operates three women's health programs.
Well Women’s Clinic
The clinic offers full clinical services through a certified Practitioner who specialises in women’s health issues. It has been in operation since 2000 and is available once a week. The service provides health checks and advice including PAP smears, breast exams, sexual health screening, contraception, menopause and women’s health advice.
“I was frightened coming in to have a Pap smear as I was very uncomfortable with the male doctor I saw a few years ago. Your doctor is just great - very experienced and very gentle. Having a longer appointment with her than you get in most doctor's rooms is terrific.”
How to access the service
The service is open to all women and does not need a referral. An appointment is needed. The service is covered by Medicare. A fee of $20 applies and is payable at the time of the appointment (this does not apply to concession card holders).
Sexual Health Clinic
The clinics make available sexual health screening, contraception advice and preventative health screening, such as PAP smears and breast health checks. SCWHS contracts Family Planning WA to provide an Advanced Nurse Practitioners for the clinics. The service has been operating since 2002.
Sexual Health Clinics are offered at two locations:
- Wednesdays from LifeLinks Community Centre in Rockingham; and
- Alternate Thursdays in Mandurah Community Health Centre, 112 Lakes Road, Mandurah.
How to access the service
The service is available to women and their partners and does not need a referral. An appointment is needed. The service is covered by Medicare.
