Rockingham Educating Young Parents (REYP)
SCWHS is currently working collaboratively with the Kwinana Industries Education Partnership and Challenger TAFE to assist young parents to re-engage in their education to improve their employment prospects into the future.
The goals of the project are to:
- Assist young parents to further their education or access training and other services where they are seeking to make the transition to employment; and
- Assist young parents and pregnant teenagers in Rockingham, who have left school, to complete their secondary education.
The program offers a flexible delivery in an off-school-site venue with appropriate child care facilities. It also provides community-based support, including pastoral care, and tutoring assistance.
Participants also receive peer education and parenting skills programs. A stimulating child care program is offered to the participant’s children so that they also benefit from the parenting skills training from which their parents receive.
